After not shooting for 7 days, I decided I needed to just go out somewhere and find something. I’m not big on flowers or gardens or the up-close-nature-still-life, but there are not very many “grandscapes” here in south western Florida on account of it being flat and mostly covered with housing developments and strip malls. However Sarasota does have a kind of oasis in Marie Selby Botanical Gardens and finding myself with a free pass, I decided to go.
It was nice, and there were lots of flowers there for sure, but I wasn’t as overwhelmed with the need to make a thousand images like I am at some of the places I find myself. Not to say that Selby is not fantastic, because as far as botanical gardens go, it pretty much is, and it is one of a kind here on Florida’s Gulf Coast. I my self am just not super into photographing flowers. I did make a few frames that I like and they had a very wide variety of things that were new and interesting to me that I had never photographed before and for that reason I will probably return there to make some additional images in the near future.
